Bubbler

An uplifting, friendly piece. Cheerful and carefree. Like a million hugs, preserved forever in a bottle of formaldehyde.

Suggested Movie Scene

Jeremy is super friendly. Ambling down a city sidewalk, he greets passersby with a smile and a wink. He pets every dog, scratches every baby behind the ears. What a happy dude.

Jeremy passes a gang of street punks. They have Mohawks and ripped up jean-jackets. Jeremy doesn't judge, he's a nice guy. They street punks assault Jeremy and throw him to the ground, but Jeremy gets right back up and continues his self assured strut.

During Jeremy's journey, he gets rained on, belittled, abducted (aliens), and shot but he stills maintains his glorious smile that stretches from ear to ear--then down to the chin, nearly nose-wise, back around to the left ear, then nonstop to ya-ya.

Finally Jeremy flies into the air. He soars above the clouds. Its great. Jeremy is just so friendly. A tortoise with an 80's style headband catches up to Jeremy. The tortoise salutes and silently mouths the words; Howdy Neighbor. Jeremy flips out and punches the tortoise in the neck while swearing profusely.

And it all goes down to this:

Chanter

Rhythmic and tribal. It's got a groove on like Carl Weathers got a Stew on. There's a guitar, a Djembe, some pitched bowls...totally lo-fi, man. Oh yeah! Throat singing! There's some throat singing, guys! You might like this one.

Suggested Movie Scene

Well...ok, see that desert scene in the picture to the right? That's you. I mean, you're not the desert, you're in the desert. You also may haven eaten peyote. So the desert's sort-of not your friend tonight.

You're balls thirsty and you desperately need to make your way to that oasis in the distance. The one with the pink water and the trees that try to hug you. As your thirst propels you forward, the ghosts of forgotten natives pull the watery paradise further away.

Now you're freaking out because you don't know if you'll ever get to taste that sweet neon water. Plus your friends parents just pulled in the driveway and you've got clown shoes on.

Good luck.

Lifeless

Description

A dark and emotional piece with a driving Trip-Hop style beat, similar to Portishead but a little more aggressive. Would be effective as mysterious and menacing atmosphere for a futuristic cityscape.

Suggested Movie Scene

It’s the future, right? And, for one reason or another (I’m not the filmmaker here), a once thriving metropolis has deteriorated into a sprawling slum.

A group of young neo-retro-cyber-steam punks cruises the dark streets in their self-navigating automobile. Some of them are androids…probably. How can you tell, it’s the future?

The bored youths travel down the rotted corridor of urban decay, passing vicious flourishes of violence and depravity more often than streetlamps. They gaze out the window and bob their heads to this:

Post the Second.

Ok, so--the objective of this weblog is to promote the music that I write. Most of the time I posting will be examples of my musics for critique and discussion. Most of the songs I post here would be available for immediate licensing for use in Film, TV, Radio, theater and all that. Producers looking for happening music for their productions need not look any further. Contact me today and we’ll do business.

I also have a website. The address is www.GregDoesMusic.com where you can listen to more audio examples and view my demo reels.

In keeping with the “Greg Does Music” theme, I was thinking of calling this “Greg Does Blog”. Or perhaps “Blog Does Music”. I haven’t decided. I may never decide — just a taste of the excitement and unpredictability that is in store for you while reading “Greg Does Blog Does Music”.

Ready.....?
